Short history of the Peruzzi Company

Bruno and Dolores Peruzzi arrived in Ancona in 1979 and fell in love with the climate, the sea, that reminds Dolores of native Dalmatia, and with a life style that is more relaxed and not so hectic as in northern Italy. They decided to leave their, by now grown-up children, in Vicenza and search for a small house in the Marche region.

They found it at a bottom of a valley in Mount Roberto, a stone house since long deserted and with fig trees growing out of the roof. There is around seven acres of uncultivated land full of thorn, below a small brook and with many oak trees along the sandy road.

Bruno and Dolores tucked up their sleeves and began to clean up. The earth is perfect for grapes because the hill is situated towards south-east and the soil is argillaceous and is found just in the center of the zone of production of Verdicchio of the Castles of Jesi, a renowned local grape.

Bruno and Dolores planted the Verdicchio grape and a hundred of olive trees. Verdicchio is used for the production of white wine, but they decide to make sparkling wine as they noticed that the grape showed good characteristics for this type of wine.

When they experienced the success of their first Spumante Metodo Classico in 1988 they decided to construct a wine cellar to produce an even more refined wine. Because of bureaucratic and practical difficulties, this project consumed Bruno’s energy for several years.

One of the daughters, Liane, comes every year for vacation. When she returns from vacation she feels nostalgic for Mount Roberto and in 1997 she decided to leave Veneto and engage in the family business. Shortly thereafter Bruno died.

Liane takes over the company and in 2002 she registered the company in the list of companies with biological production. Following in the steps of her father Liane, together with Dolores, continues with passion this satisfying work in true contact and interaction with nature.

She has chosen a path that does not deplete or damage the environment and is always in search for the perfect Peruzzi Spumante without defects and produced in a natural way with respect for the land from where it is born.
